A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM
Starring Kevin Kline, Michelle Pfeiffer

Film review by Malcolm E. Wright

Though set in the early years of the 20th century and not Shakespeare’s time, it remains true to the spirit of Shakespeare’s play. Bicycles are used cleverly throughout the film without intruding on the flow of the story or interfering with the sense of the play. They have kept the Shakespearian language and it is a real feast. Particularly funny was the sight of fairies doing bicycle repairwork. It is a love story, tastefully filmed so that your children could safely watch it with you, with hilarious comic misadventures.

Rating: Very good.
